A Table of Comfort in a Time of Crisis

The scent of garlic toast and bubbling lasagna drifts through the Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre, wrapping around the room like a warm hug. For the 60 wildfire evacuees gathered here, it’s more than just a meal—a moment of peace in the middle of chaos. These families, uprooted from their homes with little more than a suitcase and a prayer, carry the weight of uncertainty. Many have faced delays and confusion around financial aid, adding frustration to fear. But inside these walls, a different story is unfolding—one of compassion, resilience, and community. To bridge this gap through Christ’s method of mingling with people, showing sympathy, and ministering to their needs. The team faced its first hurdle: transforming a 2,400-square-foot room at Southland Shopping Center into a space that offered health and hope. They needed to recruit and train volunteers, set up

North Battleford Churches Mobilize to Aid La Ronge Evacuees

Over 200 evacuees recently arrived in North Battleford, fleeing from the devastating wildfires affecting La Ronge and surrounding areas. Among them, 170 were registered through the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), while an additional 30 came under the care of the Red Cross. Recognizing the urgent needs of these displaced families, the mayor of North Battleford reached out to me and two other pastors for assistance. One of the immediate concerns was helping evacuees access clean clothing, so we contacted the Ministerial Association to discuss how we could respond effectively. Through the support of our churches, the Ministerial Association quickly
