The front door closed with a resounding thunk. I was still in my room squeezing my Critter Sitters Trapper Keeper into my bookbag. With measured movements, I zipped the bag up, grabbed my lunch, and made my way over to the door that had shut a little more than five minutes before. Thrusting it open I glanced at the empty driveway. My stomach sank. My mom had finally done what she had threatened many a school morn. She had left me home.
