“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” 2 Corinthians 9:6
It started with dedication – a committee from within the youth group organized this ambitious journey. As Del Chaya, the Youth Ministries Leader, explained, “There was a great effort taken in planning the event.” Their careful strategy – from selecting four Airbnb houses to planning each activity – demonstrated how young leaders could step up to create transformative experiences for their peers. This thoughtful preparation by the youth committee would touch the lives of all 70 participants.

Rather than conventional hotel accommodations, the committee intentionally chose four Airbnb houses to create intimate spaces for connection. This thoughtful planning set the stage for what was to come.
On April 25, 2025, Calgary Central Church witnessed a remarkable display of unity:
- Four youth led the Sabbath School song service
- Another four guided the main service songs
- Ten musicians formed an orchestra
- An inspiring 98% choir participation for special music
“It was very exciting to hear from them that they spoke to people they just saw at church on the other side of the building, and now built a connection.” Del Chaya
The journey continued at Johnston Canyon in Banff, where laughter and joy echoed through the trails. Here, Pinehouse Drive youth had the chance to meet and connect with Calgary Central Church youth, expanding their circle of friendship. The day culminated in a spirited volleyball tournament, where competitive spirit gave way to deeper bonds.

Something remarkable happened in their separate Airbnb houses – youth girls, youth boys, young adult women, and young adult men. “Sabbaths will be more enjoyable, and they have now become closer with those that they were not so familiar with before,” reflected Del during their devotional time.
Perhaps most noteworthy was how well-behaved the youth and young adults remained throughout the journey. As organizers noted with gratitude, there were no major challenges—praise God, all went well.

The success of the trip has sparked ambitious plans for community service. Reflecting on their upcoming project at Sunnyside Care Centre, Randy Kutz, the CEO, remarked, “These young people are capable of completing in just three hours what would otherwise take us two weeks to achieve.” Other planned initiatives include:
- June fun day for community kids
- Soccer Sundays in the park
- The anticipated spring cleanup at Sunnyside Care Centre
What began as a meticulously planned weekend has blossomed into a movement of connected, energized youth ready to serve their community. Through youth leadership, intentional planning, and a perfect blend of worship, nature, and fellowship, the Pinehouse Drive Seventh-day Adventist Youth have discovered the power of genuine connection.
