Winnipeg, Manitoba – April 3, 2025: The Cascade Hutterite Colony in McGregor, Manitoba, partnered with the ADRA/ACS Community Centre in Winnipeg to distribute 1,000 pounds of potatoes to those in need. Volunteers from three local churches organized and prepared the donation for distribution within 24 hours.

Fifteen volunteers from the Korean Seventh-day Adventist Church, West Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, and Henderson Highway Seventh-day Adventist Church sorted and packed 46 boxes of potatoes. This effort addressed food insecurity and strengthened connections between the ADRA/ACS Community Centre and the Hutterite Colony.

Alan, a representative of the Hutterite Colony, said, “We were blessed, and we are happy to share our blessings with you.” This collaboration also encouraged volunteers to participate in future projects, with many asking when they could return to help.

Community Collaboration and Results
The event focused on distributing food, building relationships, and fostering future volunteer engagement. Volunteers worked together to complete the task efficiently, with many participating for the first time.

Stephanie Yamniuk, ADRA Regional Manager, led the project and coordinated with the Hutterite Colony. Alan and his nephew represented the colony, donating and expressing interest in future collaborations. Volunteers ensured the potatoes were ready for distribution, demonstrating teamwork and commitment.

The collaboration was a high-impact initiative that addressed immediate community needs while establishing a foundation for future projects. The donation was organized quickly, and its impact extended beyond food distribution, creating stronger partnerships between organizations.

Future Plans
The ADRA/ACS Community Centre and the Cascade Hutterite Colony plan to continue their partnership. The event reflected the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s mission of sharing resources with the community and highlighted the potential for future initiatives to address local needs.
